If this guy looks familiar, it’s because its sister is the familiar garden favorite “Purple Coneflower.” Deep green foliage grows to 24in (60cm) high (which is half as tall as the common purple variety), by 16in (40cm) across. Handsome blooms with white downswept petals are crowned with large, round, golden centers that are irresistible to bees and butterflies. These blooms are prolific and long-lasting, and can be made more so by removing faded blooms. These make for great cut flowers. Seed heads can be used in dried arrangements, or left in place to lend your border some winter interest.
