These easy-to-grow sunflower relatives, which are natives of the south and eastern USA, form a loose mound of fine, green, airy-looking foliage that will get between 1-2 ft (30-60cm) high, and will spread to about 3ft (90cm). Bright yellow daisy-shaped flowers up to 3in (7.5cm) are held above the foliage on slender stalks, and will last throughout the summer. These flowers attract bees, and then birds when they go to seed.

Note: There are lots of different coreopsis to choose from, with flowers in shades of red, purple, orange and yellow, as well as other variations.
