Chinese Photinia

Stranvaesia davidiana

Chinese Photinia
Stranvaesia davidiana
Type: Evergreen Shrub
Exposure: Sun / Part Shade
Water: Regular

Growing to 15ft (4.5m) tall by 10ft (3m)wide, this native of China features 3in (7.5cm), dark green oblong leaves that emerge with pinkish tones. Some of these turn red in autumn and fall off; some don’t. Showy panicles of small, white, 5-petalled flowers open in late spring. These will then form 1/4in (6mm) berries, which ripen to red by late summer, then stay on the plant well into winter. All in all, it’s an attractive all-season shrub.
