Good Luck Plant, Four Leaf Clover Plant
Oxalis deppei
Type: Perennial from Bulbs
Exposure: Full Sun to Light Shade
Water: Regular

If you’re superstitious and believe 4-leaf clovers are good luck, you’re going to love this one. Oxalis plants sprout from bulbs to form dainty, four leaf clover-shaped leaves that are suspended on their stems like small umbrellas. Each leaf is adorned with a maroon cross radiating out from the intersection of the four leaflets. Deep pink, 1 in (2.5cm), bell-shaped flowers arrive in mid summer, and often persist into autumn. Unlike its close relative, Wood Sorrel, it is not invasive but spreads slowly by tubers to form a plant about 10in (25cm) high and wide. Oxalis deppei makes a great addition to the front of your borders as well as in containers. It can often look good well into winter, but then dies back and doesn’t re-appear until the tail end of spring.

Cheers,

John
