Rose of Sharon is a hardy relative of the Hibiscus, the showy flower that’s often used as the symbol of Hawaii. Growing to 12ft (3.6m) tall by half as wide, this deciduous shrub is compact when young, but opens up somewhat as it ages. The 3-lobed, medium green leaves are amongst the last to appear in the spring, and drop without changing color in fall. There are many different flower colors available, as well as single or double-flowered varieties, like the one you see here. They arrive from mid- to late summer, and last until the first frost.

Cheers,

John
