Rain Lily is so named because in its native habitat, it often blooms after heavy rains. Growing from bulbs, it produces a clump of bright green, grass-like foliage that will reach 12in (30cm) high and wide. Slender, hollow stems support a single, white, cup-shaped bloom with 6 petals and yellow stamens, which get about 2in (5cm) across. These last from late summer into fall. Plant bulbs 2in (5cm) deep and 4in (10cm) apart. These are great in containers, at the front of borders, and in the company of ornamental grasses.
