Type: Perennial
Exposure: Sun
Water: Regular

Happy Fourth of July to our American followers!

These non-invasive thistle relatives make a bold structural addition to a sunny perennial border, where its coarse texture contrasts well with finer textured plants. The leaves are deeply cut, prickly and greyish-green forming a clump 2ft (60cm) high and wide. The flower heads are golf ball sized, metallic-blue, perfectly round pincushions that are attractive in floral arrangements, and persist from mid-summer into fall. They are held on stems that will reach 3-4ft (90-120cm) high. This low maintenance plant is good for attracting bees and butterflies, and is generally deer resistant. Other blue as well as white varieties are also available.

Cheers,

John
