This sunrose gets only 6-8in (15-20cm) high, but will spread to 3ft (90cm). The evergreen leaves are slender and glossy green above, fuzzy grey underneath. Early summer brings a multitude of inch-wide (2.5cm), brilliantly dark pink flowers which are red toward the yellow centers. The blooms only last a day, but it is so prolific that each faded blossom is quickly replaced by a fresh one. This is an ideal plant for rockeries where it can cascade over rocks or a wall, in containers, or at the front of beds. The top photo shows an effective grouping where it’s cozying up to some Spanish Lavender next to a city sidewalk. Double blooming varieties are also available, as are a wide selection of colors.

Cheers,

John
