Water: Regular, but don’t overwater.

This magnificent, re-blooming flower is in the “tall bearded iris” family. “Bearded” refers to the little fuzzy bit that runs down the middle of each hanging petal (called the “falls”). Blade-like leaves rise from rhizomes in early spring. Well-spaced flowers on stalks that can reach up to 3ft (90cm) open in all their glory in mid to late spring, and then again in late summer or early fall. These irises don’t like boggy conditions, so don’t overwater them. Plant the rhizomes in the fall, just under the soil level for best results. This makes a sensational cut flower.

Cheers,

John
