This native of South Africa produce a sturdy clump of woody stems 3ft (90cm) high and wide that are clothed with dark green, glossy leaves. Late spring brings drifts of salmon pink blossoms that are shaped like elongated bells and point straight down; it’s this dangling flower habit that earn it the fuchsia common name, even if it isn’t one (fuchsia’s botanical name is, well…fuchsia). Each bloom has a yellow throat and they’re said to attract hummingbirds. This eye-catching display persists well into the summer; bloom time can be extended into early fall if spent flowers are removed promptly. Many, many other types and colors of cape fuchsias are available as well.,

Cheers,

John
