Rose Campion

Lychnis coronaria

Rose Campion
Lychnis coronaria
Type: Perennial
Exposure: Full Sun
Water: Regular / Drought Tolerant Once Established

The fuzzy, light greenish-silver foliage (about the same shade as Lamb’s Ears) of this old-fashioned perennial  forms a loose clump of foliage that gets about 18in (45cm) wide. Vividly bright, 1 inch (2.5cm) wide magenta flowers are held on stalks that can reach 30in (75cm) high, in jarring contrast to the cool-colored leaves. Lychnis tends to be short lived, but will compensate for this by self-seeding freely. The blooms, which are popular with butterflies, make good cut flowers.

Cheers,

John
