Sweet Olive, Delavay’s Osmanthus

Osmanthus delavayi

False Holly, Holly Olive
Osmanthus delavayi
Type: Evergreen Shrub
Exposure: Sun / Part Shade
Water: Regular

“Osmanthus” is a Greek word meaning “fragrant flower,” and it absolutely lives up to its name. These flowers are small, white and borne in loose clusters along arching branches. The leaves are leathery and glossy green and either spiney-toothed  (slightly like small holly leaves), or smooth and oval. It will grow to 8-10 ft (2.4-3m) high and wide.

Note: I have posted this before, but had mistakenly labelled it as Osmanthus heterophyllus, because I’m a dumbass.

Cheers,

John
