Marsh Marigold

Caltha palustrus

Marsh Marigold
Caltha palustrus
Type: Perennial
Exposure: Sun / Part Shade
Water: Heavy, Requires Constant Moisture

This perennial is native to marshy areas, but can also grow underwater, with as much as 8in (20cm) water over top of it. Growing to 1-2 ft (30-60cm), it quickly forms a large clump of glossy green leaves. Yellow, buttercup-looking flowers adorn the plant from April to July, and possibly again later in the summer if the spring’s spent flowers are removed. Foliage can also be cut back after first bloom to encourage fresh new growth. It’s attractive to bees and butterflies.

Cheers,

John
