Japanese Rose, Easter Rose
Kerria japonica “Pleniflora”
Type: Deciduous Shrub
Exposure: Sun / Part Shade
Water: Regular

It’s March! Spring must be just around the corner!

This open, airy shrub consists of gracefully arching branches that grow to 6-10 ft (1.8-3m) high and wide. The fresh green to yellow-green of the bare stems provide winter interest. Sharply toothed, bright green leaves cover the branches in spring, followed by bright yellow double pompom flowers which resemble roses, to which they are related. Kerrias are well suited to a woodland setting, being one of the few flowering deciduous shrubs that will flower well in shade. They spread by suckers, so be sure to remove any unwanted sucker growth over the winter.

Cheers

John
