Glory of the Snow
Chiondoxa forbesii
Type: Perennials from Bulbs
Exposure: Sun / Part Shade
Water: Regular
In some places, this spring-flowering bulb blooms early enough to poke its blooms through the snow. The blooms themselves are six-petalled blue stars, fading to white toward the center. Narrow, grasslike leaves form a clump up to 12in (30 cm) tall. Although it will grow fine in woodland settings, here on the southwest BC coast it does better with more sun. White and pink blooming varieties are also available. It naturalizes well, especially if allowed to go to seed.
Cheers
