Yes, you read that right; this is actually a Rhododendron. It forms a compact, 2-3 ft (60-90cm) high and wide mound of 1/8 in (3mm) wide, crinkly leaves. These are matched by equally shredded-looking, lavender pink, frilly blooms that cover the plant in spring (this one’s got started early), giving the plant a sort of airy look. Protect them from deer, if possible; rumor has it they love the flower buds.
