Winter Aconite
Eranthis cilicica
Type: Tuberous Perennial
Exposure: Sun / Part Shade
Water: Regular
This diminutive late-winter bloomer grows to 2-8in (5-20cm), producing blooms that resemble large buttercups, each measuring about 1.5 in (3.8cm) across. The blossoms sit on a single, multi-lobed leaf that emerges bronzy before turning bright green. This little guy disappears entirely during summertime, before re-appearing for its winter show. It’s a natural choice for the front of the bed in a winter garden.
Cheers,
John
