Type: Evergreen Shrub
Exposure: Light Shade
Water: Regular

Today’s plant is a relative of the commonly seen woodland native, Salal (Gaultheria shallon). It forms an evergreen shrub with glossy green foliage which grows to 2-3ft (60-90cm) high and will spread to form a 4 ft (1.2m) wide clump. Small, pinkish white flowers appear in late spring, followed by long-lasting, glossy white fruits. To get more berries, plant both male and female varieties. For best appearance thin out and regularly prune lightly. It makes a good woodland plant, and works well in containers.

Cheers,

John
