This low, densely-branching California native grows to 6-10ft (1.8-3m) high and wide. The branches themselves are a deep reddish brown with an open habit. Small glossy green leaves are accompanied by pale pink bell-shaped flowers in late winter or early spring. It’s related to the frequently-seen ground cover “kinnickkinnick”
