Here’s another candidate for the “worst common name” award. Despite the unfortunate name though, this is an elegant, versatile perennial. Narrow green leaves, splashed with silver, form a clump 12in (30cm) high by 24in (60cm) wide. In early spring, upward facing clusters of deep pink bells appear above the foliage. The leaves, evergreen in mild winter regions, will be rejuvenated if cut back hard immediately after bloom.
