Eastern Sowbread?? Seriously, who names these things?
Like yesterday’s Winter Aconite, this plant is small, perennial, tuberous and dormant in summer. Its flowers are light purple, pink or white and are borne on 4-6in (10-15cm) stalks in late winter or early spring above round dark green basal leaves that have white or silvery marbling. The flowers are often compared to butterflies. These are effective under trees and shrubs and among ferns, or in a rock garden. It’s also good in containers.
Cheers,
John
