Type: Evergreen Ornamental grass
Exposure: Part Shade
Water: Ample at time of planting, then regular

This is a low-growing, dwarf type of bamboo that reaches only 2-3ft (60-90cm) in height, but spreads through underground rhizomes, qualifying it as a groundcover as well. Dark green, 7in (18cm) leaves turn a creamy white around the edges in autumn, and remain on the plant throughout the winter. Running bamboos such as this are effectively controlled through the use of underground barriers (check with your local landscape supply store to see what’s available). On the other hand, it’s this spreading habit that makes this an effective plant for erosion control.
