Type: Evergreen Shrub
Exposure: Full Sun
Water: Drought Tolerant Once Established

This is the hardiest of the Grevilleas, native to Australia and New Zealand. This guy can add a foot (30cm) of growth a year, reaching about 10ft (3m) high and wide in maturity. It is prized for its greyish-green foliage and unique, colorful flower buds which appear in fall and last well into winter. In late winter, these vermillion clusters open to reveal spidery, honeysuckle-like flowers, and can persist into summer. These flowers are attractive to hummingbirds. After the blooms fade in summer, the branches remain decorated with their tan-colored skeletons. Royal Grevilleas make good companions  for ornamental grasses,

Cheers,

John
