Mahonia japonica “Bealei”
Type: Evergreen Shrub
Exposure: Sun / Part Shade
Water: Regular

The leathery leaves of this handsome evergreen shrub can reach over a foot (30cm) in length, and are in turn divided into 7-12 bright green, spiny-edged leaflets. Erect yellow blossom spikes extend 3-6in (7.5-15cm) from the ends of the branches, and appear in late winter. These are followed by colorful, powder-blue berries. This is an attractive shrub year-round, but avoid planting too close to walkways due to the pointy leaves. It’s been known to self-sow if the conditions are favorable.

Cheers,

John
