Euphorbia myrsinites |
Donkeytail Spurge
Euphorbia myrsinites
Type: Succulent Evergreen Perennial
Exposure: Sun
Water: Drought Tolerant
An intriguing little plant for this last day of 2022 –
This Euphorbia features slightly fleshy, bluish-green spiraling leaves lining sprawling, curving stems. These stems will sprawl to about 14in (35cm) long, each ending in chartreuse flower clusters that last through the spring months, each getting about 4in (10cm) across. This plant prefers hot dry situations, and may self-sow to the point of being invasive in these conditions; however, it’s better behaved on our mild, wet coast. This works well in Mediterranean plantings, gravel gardens, rock gardens or in containers.
Pro Tip: The milky sap is toxic and an irritant. Wear gloves when handling it and please, don’t eat your spurge.
