There aren’t many plants that work as hard the whole year round as this multi-stemmed dogwood. During the summer months, rich green foliage covers stems that grow to 5ft (1.5m) high and 6ft (1.8m) wide. The green gives way to golden fall color, and then to vividly-colored twigs in the winter (see photos). Late spring produces tiny, dull white flowers in flat 2in (5cm) clusters, which in turn produces quarter inch (6mm) blue / black drupes in late summer. While this fruit is not particularly showy, is does attract birds

In late winter, cut stems back to about 1 ft (30cm), as new growth makes for the best twig color. This one is absolutely spectacular in groups.
