Beautyberry
Callicarpa japonica
Type: Deciduous shrub
Exposure: Sun / Light shade
Water: Regular

The aptly-named Beautyberry is truly a shrub for all seasons. Small pink / purple flowers are borne on gracefully arching branches in summer, followed by clusters of small, violet to brilliant purple berries. The leaves turn reddish purple before dropping in the fall, leaving the berries behind to light up the garden throughout the winter. It grows to 5ft (1.5m) high and wide, and is very effective in groups or in woodland settings.

Cheers,

John
