Osmanthus heterophyllus “Goshiki”

Variegated False Holly
Osmanthus heterophyllus “Goshiki”
Type: Evergreen Shrub
Exposure: Sun / Shade
Water: Regular, Drought Tolerant Once Established

This colorful, compact shrub will form a dense mound of holly-like foliage 4ft (1.2m) tall and wide, or wider. The new leaves emerge a magnificent blend of yellow, green, cream, yellow and red, before maturing to a cream-on-green splotchy variegation that is great for brightening up a dark corner. The flowers, which appear in fall when most things are done with flowering, are somewhat insignificant but smell intensely sweet. Use False Holly in containers, as foundation planting, as a low clipped hedge, or as a specimen plant with yellow-leaved companions such as yellow-leaved Hostas or yellow Japanese Forest Grass.
