Ozothamnus “Sussex Silver”
Type: Evergreen Shrub
Exposure: Sun
Water: Regular, Drought Tolerant Once Established
Here’s an evergreen (evergray, really) New Zealand native that features fine-textured, fragrant, silvery to grey/green whipcord type leaves. Growing to 6ft (1.8m) tall and wide, this makes for a solid, year-round structural plant for near the back of the border. It is also low maintenance and seacoast-tolerant. Clusters of small, creamy white flowers appear in the summer. Pinch back the tips of the branches to keep it bushy and dense.
Careful not to confuse this with Osmanthus, which has most of the same letters in a different order.
Cheers,
John
