Golden Norway Spruce
Picea abies “Aurea”
Type: Coniferous Evergreen Tree
Exposure: Sun
Water: Regular
This strongly conical evergreen will grow to 35ft (10.5m) tall by 15ft (4.5m) wide, usually with a single central leader. Glossy yellow new needles emerge in spring, and then change to chartreuse as the year progresses. The yellow of the needles tends to be more prominent on younger trees. It has a low canopy that reaches almost right to the ground, and is a low maintenance tree; it requires pruning only to remove deadwood and to shape, if desired. It provides a striking contrast against a backdrop of darker foliage, especially welcome during these darker winter months and is well suited to larger scale landscapes.
Cheers,
