Type: Deciduous Shrub
Exposure: Sun / Part Shade
Water: Regular

This compact shrub is a member of the Witch Hazel family, so you may not be too surprised by its showy display of fall foliage. Growing to 6ft  (1.8m) over 10 years, it features handsome, powdery blue-green leaves that tend to have a more vibrant color in partly shady conditions. In fall, the bluish tones are replaced with vivid red, burgundy, and yellow hues. In spring, honey-scented, white bottlebrush-shaped flowers arrive. These can get to 2in (5cm) long, and will usually hang around for a couple of weeks. These look especially good in mass plantings, as well as in borders or cottage garden settings.
