Hebe “Pretty n’ Pink”
Type: Evergreen Shrub
Exposure: Sun / Part Shade
Water: Regular

Growing a mere 1ft (30cm) high but 32in (80cm) wide, this handsome evergreen shrub makes an excellent ground cover. Hebes are grown largely for their foliage, and this one is no exception; it features glossy, lance- shaped leaves borne densely in pairs along the stiff stems. The new growth emerges in August from purple buds to open a bronzy-red color, and retains just a hint of this red around the leaf edges and central vein. Cooler weather turns the leaves shades of darker purple / brown / red.

This guy flowers in early fall, and continues well into winter. The blooms are arranged in showy, loose clusters of pinkish purple, and compliment the buds and foliage beautifully. It also makes a great container plant.

Handy Hint: Hebe is pronounced “HEE-bee.”

Cheers,

John
