The name “Pincushion Flower” comes from the fact that the round center of the flowers look like small pincushions. In this variety, these pincushions are surround by pale lavender / blue petals. This is a compact perennial, forming a grey-green clump of frilly foliage 18in (45cm) across. The flowers are held above the foliage atop wiry stems, a foot to 18in (30-45cm) high. These look particularly attractive en masse, situated at the front of borders or in a rock garden. And as the name would suggest, they do attract butterflies.

Cheers,

John
