Solidago rugosa “Fireworks”
Type: Perennial
Exposure: Sun / Light Shade
Water: Regular

Woody, spreading root stocks produce upright stems covered with smooth, narrow green leaves. Forming a bushy clump 4ft (1.2m) tall by 30in (75cm) wide , this native of the Eastern US bears long, dense, lacy plumes of tiny, vivid yellow flowers. These usually show up at the end of summer or the beginning of fall, and hang around to contribute a floral component to your fall foliage. Also, they attract butterflies.

Fun fact: Goldenrod has been falsely blamed for causing allergies, but in reality the cause is usually ragweed, which starts pumping out the pollen right around this time of year.

Cheers,

John
