This annual succulent is tougher than it looks. It forms a creeping mat of glossy green, pointed oval leaves, and will spread to a foot (30cm) wide by 8in (20cm) high. Brightly colored 1in (2.5cm) blooms cover the plant from mid summer right through until first frost. Different cultivars offer a choice of single, double, or semi-double blossoms, and available in just about every color imaginable. The one in the photos is part of the “Cupcake” series. I’m told the seeds are edible raw or cooked; they can be ground up and added to soups, stews, etc.

Cheers,

John
