The smallish dark green leaves on this evergreen shrub contrast handsomely with its purplish-red stems. Small, slightly fragrant white / chartreuse flowers adorn the plant in early spring, which are followed by black berries. The aromatic foliage has a slightly peppery smell. Growing to 6ft (1.8m) high by 4ft (1.2m) wide, it makes a great choice for a large container.
