Daphne bholoa |
Nepalese Paper Plant
Daphne bholoa
Type: Evergreen Shrub
Exposure: Part Shade
Water: Regular
I can’t show you what makes this airy evergreen shrub truly extraordinary, because the internet doesn’t do fragrances [yet]. In late winter, when this upright grower is in full bloom, you’ll smell its incredible perfume before you even see its flowers. The flowers themselves are a slightly pinkish-white, and appear in clusters at the branch ends from pink buds. Unlike other Daphnes, which are generally short and dense in habit, this will ultimately reach a height of 8ft (2.4m). If conditions allow, plant near a doorway in order to fully appreciate its magnificent fragrance.
*Note- This is still growing in popularity, so may be a bit tough to find at present. Make sure you supply the botanical name to your nurseryperson; they may not be familiar with the common names. “Bholoa is pronounced “bo-LOO-ah.”
Cheers,
John
